The Singapore Story
Coming March, NUS IIE is to put up a concert, The Singapore Story featuring an original composition by the widely acclaimed violinist, composer, conductor and Grammy nominee Dr. L. Subramaniam as the opening show for the prestigious NUS Arts Festival ‘12. This concert also stands to mark the 25th year of the group since it was first established in 1987. The concert is themed upon the concept of Navarasas ( Nava:Nine; Rasas: Emotions) which are the nine human emotions elemental to Indian music and dramaturgy that was conceptualised in way back in 400BC. A work of art dominated by a rasa is believed to magically evoke that particular feeling in a person who views, reads or hears it.
